A Young Lady Stops Drinking, Suffers From Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms, And Comes To A Decision To Get Alcohol Rehab

Kayla is a twenty-six-year-old benefits manager who has been ingesting alcohol in an excessive manner since she and her fiancee broke off their relationship. In truth, for the past six months she has been drinking very nearly a bottle of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking a number cans of beer all the way through the day. In short Kayla has been drinking so abusively that it's a wonder that she hasn't suffered from alcohol withdrawals when she tried to stop drinking.

After feeling downcast because she was beginning to let her health go downhill, Kayla finally told herself that she's had enough, that it's time to quit feeling sorry for herself, that it's time to stop the abusive and hazardous drinking, and time to get on with her life. So the following Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, she determined that she would quit drinking cold turkey.

When she called her best pal and informed her that she had quit drinking and that after a few hours she abruptly started to have flu-like symptoms, Deborah, her best pal, told Kayla to call her doctor and explain what was taking place.

Her family doctor told her that she may be suffering from alcohol withdrawal symptoms and that she should have a friend or relative take her to the emergency room ASAP. Obviously her doctor had called ahead and informed the emergency room treatment team to expect Kayla because when she got to the hospital, she was met by a paramedic and a nurse who immediately told her to sit down in the wheelchair they had with them.

A healthcare practitioner administered some medications to address her flu-like symptoms and also administered some drugs to help eliminate the alcohol that was still in her circulation system. After a couple of hours, Kayla was transferred from the emergency room and wheeled to the recovery room.

After she was in recovery for around three-and-a-half hours, Doctor Patterson, a drug and alcohol abuse specialist, came to see her. He took his time and explained in plain words that Kayla had gone through alcohol withdrawals when she stopped drinking because she had become addicted to alcohol.

He then stated that with continuous and heavy drinking, the person's brain slowly but surely becomes accustomed to the alcohol in order to carry out tasks and operations in a "normal" way. When the person then all at once stops consuming alcohol, it can be stressed, the brain takes action by creating alcohol withdrawals. In addition, her doctor also clearly explained the different alcoholism symptoms that an alcoholic commonly goes through as the disease gets worse over time.

Fortunately for Kayla, it was confirmed that she was in the first stage of alcoholism and, as a result, she obtained a favorable prognosis for a total recovery if she gets the alcohol dependency rehab she requires.

Kayla told the doctor that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to reclaim her life and her health. She also articulated that she has a very comprehensive hospitalization plan that will quite possibly pay for most of the costs required for rehab. It was clear to see that Kayla was quite thankful about her encouraging prognosis and felt at ease knowing that she will be able to get the alcoholism therapy she needs so that she can begin the road to recovery.
