Mr. Johnson was one of the health teachers at a medium size rural community college in the Eastern part of the U.S. For "Alcohol Comprehension Month" he came to a decision that he would focus on the following three topics for a class project: the symptoms of alcoholism, the signs of alcoholism, and alcoholic symptoms.
After Mr. Johnson finished the topics that would be assigned to his pupils, he determined that he would give them their assignment the following Friday. When "assignment day" eventually arrived, Mr. Johnson met with the pupils in his classroom, distributed some important reading material, and then informed the pupils in his class about the topics he decided upon.
He then gave the pupils in his class a synopsis of some noteworthy signs of alcoholism and noted how critical it is to figure out how to associate these statistics, symptoms, and facts with the day-to-day situations of people addicted to alcohol. He then gave the students in his classroom a brief description about the importance of learning more about alcohol addicted people and how they function on a day-to-day basis.
Mr. Johnson informed his pupils that they could give their attention to one of the three topics or research all three topics and how they are interrelated. In actual fact this would be similar to a basic overview but done in a more wide-ranging fashion.
Another selection that he gave to the pupils in his class was the following: opt for a topic such as alcoholism symptoms and signs, look into things in a more far-reaching manner, and then go over four or five signs and symptoms. The end result of their research investigation would be a three thousand word research paper and then a five minute oral presentation that would be given in front of all the members of the class. As acknowledgment for their special intellectual accomplishment, those with the top two overall grades on the research paper and on the oral presentation will be encouraged to present the end product their study at the tri-state alcohol and drug abuse symposium during the last nine days of February.
